Although the relationship between cancer and heart disease is well understood, the science of cardiooncology is still in its early stages. Our goal is to help families navigate a future that will not only make cancer and heart disease more treatable but also preventable. We believe that improved early detection measures and, as a result, better prevention will address patient risk exposure more effectively. Gender-based medicine will be critical in tailoring the patient care experience and improving health outcomes.
Cardiovascular and cancer diseases are two of the leading causes of death, and they pass on a higher risk to future generations. While cancer care is improving, this is not always the case for families with a high cardiovascular risk. Another key to heart health care is the mental aspect, which is especially important with psychosomatic heart disorders. Addressing patients' needs will be critical to helping them improve their heart health management.
Although cancer is one of the main causes of death, many adult cancer patients die as a result of heart and other cardiovascular diseases. A risk that is largely overlooked among specific cancer types, with breast cancer patients being part of the more vulnerable patient group. As more cancer patients survive, gender-specific heart health management and personalized prevention will be required for them and other heart health risk groups.
The continual shift of healthcare is supported by a solid foundation of scientific research. To continue strengthening this foundation and developing better products and services for families, healthcare and pharmaceutical professionals and patients must work together.
